How much does a wedding photographer cost ....I got a bill for some stuff so I thought I review wedding costs in case you are planning one.
I don't know how people pay for this stuff... everything is so ridiculously priced, its absolutely unbelievable.
You have seen the bride and groom give blank oh my goodness looks of hilarity on Rich Bride Poor Bride at crazy priced cakes, receptions, limos.
I got some bills today, not a good day to receive them but anyways.
Mom "so I meet with the photographer to check out the photo albums you can get . they looked so wonderful but they are expensive "
Me (uck me)
Me "I think we will just the album that it comes with"
Mom "oh, nowadays, photographer's albums come separately"
Me "so what did we pay him for"
Mom "to show up at the wedding"
Me (confused) why would i pay a guy X thousands of dollars to show up to get the "premium" package and then have to order an album separately
Mom "oh he includes 100 photos and a $300 credit towards an album"
Me (confused) what type of top package gets you only 100 wal-mart sized photos and a $300 credit towards an album ... cost costs 19 cents to print one pic but the photographer is providing them at roughly 200 times that .. yes over 200 times ..
Mom "the albums are handmade in Italy......"
Me - uck me ... This is like ordering two 7 tier cakes.
Mamma mia .
![]() 9月27日 6-49 Tips ....There is a new Lotto 6-49 scratch and win ... with 6 prizes of $1 million.
Do they renew the tickets once someone wins one of the top 6 prizes b/c if all of them are already won, its alittle pointless to buy them. 9月25日 I Can't Believe ......I can't believe it !!!!
1) Canadian communism in tv broadcasting.
How is it right for a customer to pay $240 a season for NHL Centre Ice hockey when you can get basically the same time on the other side of the country. Every year, I fork over a few hundred bucks to Rogers so I can watch Flames games. It doesn't bother me that much but Rogers Sportsnet West "blocks" or censors their Flames broadcasts to Toronto residents to force them to order their Centre Ice package. This is communism just like I can't watch NBC or ABC live tv shows on the web but Americans can.
2) I went to get a license sticker renewal and came out with a $260 bill thanks to Toronto new taxes on licenses. What about all the freaking cars from "suburbs" travelling to Toronto. There needs to be a no suburb car zone in Toronto if Toronto residents are paying this tax and people in Newmarket aren't . This will ease Toronto congestion. No suburban SUVs.
3) This is unbelievable .............. so I just got my airline ticket on aircanada.com. What you are going to read is crazy. I checked aircanada.com, travelocity the last couple of weeks so I knew the prices beforehand of all the carriers ... and then I uncovered absolutely crazy.
The cheapest flight to Shanghai was about $1650 last week but all cheap flights weren't direct.
The cheapest flight yesterday to Shanghai was about $1350 so I am pretty happy.
Then, I found a flight for only $1100 direct ! All I had to do was book a one way flight to New York ... yes, you read that right. In order to get this "better" pricing, I had to book a one way flight to New York the day after I come back. I save over $200 this way.
Unreal.. Do a search on aircanada.com for a two way to Shanghai then do a "multi-city" search and add the New York one way and your total trip is less. This is unreal. 9月24日 Dancing with the Stars review ...Kim Karsdashian dance to Sir Mix Alot Baby Got Back could of been a transcending moment in tv history but it was just like a really just very bland.
![]() There is a Wii Dancing game which despite the captions looks pretty interesting..
When is the best time to get airline tickets ...its usually 2-3 weeks prior to departure ... Buying tickets way too early is not advisable is today's economy.
Usually waiting patiently pays off, Toronto to Shanghai flights just went down at midnight tonite a few hundred bucks which is nice since I have to buy some ticket this week. Luckily, I was too lazy to get flights last week.
![]() everytime I go to a city, the subway system seems way better than toronto's U line. Shanghai used to have only two or three lines a few years ago for 30 billion people but added 5-6 new lines in the past 10 years. Paris has lots of lines and is easy. Rome isn't too shabby either. Hong Kong MTR rocks although I still get confused by the subway signs there since subway actually means underground walkway not subway train station.
Toronto wants to spend 50 billion to fix it according to a new report this week. The main objective is always to get a line to either the airport or York University/Vaughn. York University does not need a freakin line which would cost probably a billion to make. Has anyone meet a York student who didn't grow up in the suburbs and lives at home with their parents? If so, why don't just hand this one dude $1,000 and he will be happy to take the Finch shuttle bus which is pretty quick. This method will save approximately a billion.
9月21日 Hyundai reviewIs it just me but don't Hyundais seem like fake Gucci purses?
![]() The new 2009 Mercedes C class ... opps I meant the new 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Its like real life Transformer. You can get one at your local street market across the world. What's the new trend in Meats ......You know whats super trendy and becoming quite expensive at the grocery store is Pork Bellies. You know Pork Bellies future market is very high right now.
Pork bellies are all the rage in all culinary circles.
What's a pork belly?
Its bacon but not sliced up. Its been the hottest food trend in the last couple of years.

Girlfriend at dinner "Hey, what about me? "
Wife "I don't know anyone but how about Josh at the wedding? He's single"
Girlfriend "He told me at the wedding I must sleep with alot of guys"
Wife - "that's not very nice....."
Lunch chat
Wife "your friend Josh told Jenn that she must sleep with alot of guys" (shaking her head)
Husband "oh he probably didn't mean anything by it ... he was probably thinking you are pretty but incorrectly phrased it"
![]() 9月19日 When does 24 start !What cars to get in a recession ...Always buy German.
You want a car with good fuel economy do stick with a car under a V-10. Any car over a V-8 such as a V-10 or V-12 will have much worse gas consumption and potential higher insurance premiums. With high gas prices, you will thank me from accidently getting a V-10 or V-12. I would recommend a V-8 with a low rpm torque ratio. This will produce better than average fuel consumption than your typical V-8. I drive a V-6 but I'm a humanitarian and down to earth. Don't degrade yourself.
Always ask for a subprime car loan from the dealer, this will reduce your overall equity needed. Make sure to ask for the lowest subprime rate for the first two years but you want a high kicker rate when the loan kicks in after the 2nd year. This will improve your overall equity position.
Don't forget to get the government fuel efficient tax credit b/c you want to make sure your tax payer's money is helping the environment and society.
Good luck.
![]() 9月17日 What you need in a SUVif you are going to get a SUV, get one that looks like a bad*ss, I don't want some sissy looking Hyundai sedan thats higher than my hybrid.
My favorite SUV has always been the Land Rover Discovery ... its a combination of bad*ass and preppy that I desire ... I never have driven one and probably won't since my practical side will never allow me to buy an overpriced, unreliable, depreciating asset like the Rover. Is there a reason even to consider a Rover now that they don't use BMW engines anymore. Anyways, its style over substance.
My pick for minivans is the Dodge caravan: its got a table to play games inside. My pick for SUVs is also the Dodge caravan.
![]() 9月16日 How to Change your Legal Name to a More Westernized Name .....so my sister in law's sister has changed her born name to ..... drum roll please ......
Christina.
Sounds normal.
I suppose with all the funky names out there. Sure lots of people born outside North America want to Americanize themselves and call them by a more Westernized name rather than their given name which they perceive as alittle different. Anyways, the way people come up with these names is amusing. For some reason, chinese people think Jacky is a very popular English name. There should be a tutor on naming.
Anyways .... back to Christina .......
after naming herself Christina .... someone tells her that there is another famous person with the same name as her .....
Christina Yang from Grey's Anatomy. Yes, she just accidently named herself one of the lead characters on grey's anatomy.
I should rename myself McDreamy.
![]() For some odd reason, Sandra Oh is always marvelled at by media as "gorgeous" and one of the most beautiful people in the world .... it must be a sign of politically correctness b/c if so many people think this, the world has a serious crack problem.
SUVsMy friends are driving SUVs like crazy vs me driving my w's hybrid battery car. Is this for real? I used to drive a SUV. My single friends, married friends, everyone has a SUV.
Minivans offer a much better value and space but everyone still goes to the old SUV. I think I'm a station wagon person but time will tell. The car I thought was the coolest when I was a kid other than the obvious 928 was the luxury Econoline Vans with shag carpet, tvs, couches, coffee tables, ladder in the back .... my neighbour had one and it was rad.
At roughly this time last year, my mom almost bought Thomas Kaberle's SUV. Ironically, they called the same day as the hockey pool ...
I've driven some of my mommies SUVs so I'm qualified to review SUVs.
SUVs started in the 1990s with the original - the GMC Yukon.
As the Minivan market was dying, suburbans mommies everywhere in the early 1990s started driving Ford Explorers and Jeep Cherokees. The unfashionable or uneducated mommies drove Ford Explorers Eddie Bauer editions and the real SUV drivers drove the Jeep Grand Cherokees Limited edition. The 1993-1998 V8 G Cherokee was one of the best cars in our generation. This was my favorite SUV of alltime.
Then in 1998 - Lexus introduced the first car based SUV which has overtaken the market. The Lexus RX was just a jacked up Toyota Camry for a much higher price. Currently, the Lexus is probably the best SUV for suburban mommies but for my blog its way too sissy looking even for a hybrid driver and way too unstylish.
Whats funny is ..... everyone always asks when you are married and in the suburbs when are you having children ... anyway right after someone ask E the other day, E asked me a few hours later. What is your favorite SUV?
Perplexed, I was like, I really don't like SUVs mainly b/c they are freakin expensive to acquire and maintain. I'm much more frugal now that I live on the Bayview subway line. Anyways, I was like this is a really weird question. Most females aren't really into cars. Oh if we have kids in the future we will have to get a SUV. What the $$^%^%$^ !!! "Minivans are much better value"
then a "disgusted look" of how unstylish minivans are ....
9月14日 Buffet City .......hit the Mandarin for Chinese Moon festival ... thats what couples do when they live in the suburbs. Don't ask me how I keep my petite figure. Mandarin has a very Americanized chinese food selection but is pretty tasty. I only go on weekends for snow crab and the leg of lamb. Two food items I enjoy and rarely eat. What - you hardly eat crab? No, I eat crab alot but B.C crab and snow crab are much different. Its like saying everything tastes like chicken. I never see snowcrab at groceries stores, do Mandarin buffet and Vegas buffets get all the supplies? Lamb is very underappreciated - lamb chops, rack of lamb, leg of lamb and lamb shank are all super delicious from time to time. Unfortunately very few places serve lamb and its expensive. Lamb chops taste and look like a mini-t bone steak. ![]() 9月13日 Girls loved to be engaged ....So E's screams that one of her friend is getting married in Hawaii at the end of the year ! I'm diplomatic and tell her to send my congrats and we'll definitely be there. A few hours later, the engagement was actually her friend saying she is getting married in Hawaii at the end of the year b/c she "thinks" and has a "feeling" her boyfriend is proposing next week. Girls loved to be engaged/married ... ![]() this is almost like proposing to oneself ..... step one) announce your engagement step two) say you think he is going to propose next week step three) announce your engagement again step four) propose to yourself Threadcount on bedsheets ....when purchasing bedsheets, make sure to look at the threadcount and not the brandname of the bedsheet ... A good threadcount starts at 250. I live in the suburbs so my threadcount is 600. You can get up to 1000. Most sheets are between 200-250. I would recommend getting sheets at Costco. If you have rough skin, make sure to ask for Egyptian cotton too. ![]() 9月11日 The Euroworkout - the Vibration MachineEvery commercial in Europe is for this vibrating workout machine - the premise is simple. The machine shakes and it burns calories for you while you stand on it doing nothing. Its pretty funny to watch, the premise is similar to driving a car or sitting in a car, since the car moves, you are theoretically working out. Question of the day ....Why do all real estate agents put a picture of them that is at least 10 to 20 years old? 9月10日 Eating with Seniors at the Bay cafeteriaYou ever been to a Hudson Bay cafeteria, its filled with senior citizens ... its pretty awesome. I went today to get a Bose Stereo system as a wedding gift. Thanks for the g.cards. Its got a memory harddrive for your music like a jukebox. Anyways, I am so clumsy with my old age and I lost my freakin parking ticket. You know, when you lost your ticket, you pay the maximum parking fee. Damit. I only parked in the Bay Adelaide lot b/c the Bay said it was needed to load my stereo. I didn't want to pay Bay-street parking prices for a lost ticket. It could be upwards of $50 or more. My blog is nonprofit so losing a p-ticket would be very financially unfortunate. After getting the Bay parking credit for 1 hour (you are suppose to put in your p ticket first, then you can use the Bay card to pay part of your parking fee) ...., I devised a plan, I would pretend to use the Bay parking ticket while exiting and then of course it wouldn't work, I would act stumped and then ask the security or the parking office which is always right beside it. So of course they ask where is your parking ticket they gave you when you came in ... I act stumped and confused, they Bay gave me this card as the ticket, I just came to pick it up in the loading dock, etc etc... I actually had lunch downtown, etc. Anyways, pretending to be stumped and dazed and confused worked as they just gave me another ticket instead of charging me for a lost ticket. I drove out and realized the maximum at Bay-Adelaide is very affordable for Bay street parking at $20 a day but its $18 per hour otherwise. So I really didn't need to panic and do my act but I still saved some money. Lesson of the day: this is the way to act when you lose your parking ticket and talking to parking security/office but I wouldn't recommend this strategy at customs when you are coming back on vacation. I know realize I left my p ticket on my cafeteria tray. Thank goodness I didn't lose the giftcards b/c I still have thousands of them. That I'm pretty sure, I couldn't pretend to get back at the HBC store. |
